Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards have issued three charges against licensed trainer-driver Gary Donaldson under Australian Harness Racing Rules (AHRR) 190(1), 190B(1) and 194.

AHRR 190(1) states:

A horse shall be presented for a race free of prohibited substances.

It is alleged that Mr Donaldson presented the horse ‘Liberland’ to race at the Horsham harness racing meeting on 17 September 2020, not free of cobalt, a prohibited substance when evidenced at a concentration above the allowable threshold.

The charge under AHRR 190B(1) relates to Mr Donaldson failing to keep and maintain a log book as required by the rules.

The further charge under AHRR 194 relates to Mr Donaldson allegedly administering substances or preparations which are not registered in compliance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation.

The charges will be heard by the Victoria Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
