On 6 December 2023, licensed trainer Emma Stewart lodged an appeal with the Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) regarding a decision of the Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards to disqualify her for six (6) months. The media release relating to the HRV Stewards decision can be viewed here.
Ms Stewart sought a stay of proceedings, which was opposed by the HRV Stewards.
On 8 December 2023, VRT Chairman Judge John Bowman considered submissions from Mr Damian Sheales, on behalf of Ms Stewart, and Mr Adrian Anderson, on behalf of HRV, in relation to the stay application.
At the conclusion of that hearing, Judge Bowman granted Ms Stewart a stay of proceedings.
Ms Stewart is permitted to participate in the harness racing industry until such time as her appeal is heard and determined by the VRT.
