On 22 April 2021, the VRT considered a charge issued by the Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards against licensed trainer-driver Matthew Craven under Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 231(1)(a).
AHRR 231(1)(a) states:
- A person shall not:-
(a) threaten
anyone employed, engaged or participating in the harness racing industry or otherwise having a connection with it.
This charge related to Mr Craven’s conduct at the Tabcorp Park Melton harness racing meeting on 10 October 2020.
Mr Craven pleaded guilty to the charge before submissions on penalty were heard from the HRV Stewards and Mr Craven.
Penalty
The VRT imposed a $500 fine.
