The Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards advise that in light of the current predicted forecast for the Tabcorp Park Melton race meeting on 31 December 2021, the hot weather provisions of the HRV Extreme Weather Policy will be enacted.
The previously issued requirement for all runners to be oncourse 2 hours prior to their race is removed with all runners now required oncourse the usual 1 hour prior to their engagement.
The further protective procedures implemented include:
- Additional veterinarians engaged to solely monitor the pre and post-race condition of horses;
- Reduced pre and post-race parade times;
- Additional ‘cooling stations’ provided equipped with iced water and additional hoses positioned around the parade ring and stabling area;
- Cooling fans activated in horse stabling area.
