Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards today concluded an investigation into the harness racing activities of licensed stablehand Gabrielle Symons and unlicensed person Ben Moule.
After considering all the available evidence, Ms Symons was issued with a charge under Australian Harness Racing Rule (AHRR) 203 which states:
A person shall not train a horse unless that person holds a training licence.
The particulars of the charge being that Ms Symons was training the registered standardbred ‘Fight For Falby’ when not the holder of a trainer’s licence.
Ms Symons pleaded guilty to the charge and after considering all the circumstances was issued with a fine of $500.
Ben Moule was issued with a charge under AHRR 204 which states:
A person shall not carry out the duties of a stablehand unless that person holds a trainer’s, drivers or stablehand licence.
The particulars of the charge were that Mr Moule was carrying out the activities of a stablehand by driving the registered standardbred ‘Bacardi Martini’ when not the holder of any harness racing licence.
Mr Moule was also issued with a charge under AHRR 159A(1) in that he was not wearing an approved helmet when driving a horse.
Mr Moule pleaded guilty to both charges and after considering all the circumstances, Mr Moule was fined $200 in relation to undertaking duties when not licensed and fined $100 for failing to wear an approved helmet.
