Our Integrity Matters Q&A this edition is Scott Gillespie, who has been a steward at Harness Racing Victoria since January 2021.

Tell us about your background?

I previously worked in transport (operations and logistics) for 16 years before transitioning into Racing Integrity with Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) in 2016.  I joined Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) in January this year.

What is your current role at HRV?

Full-time raceday steward.

What were the major differences you observed or encountered in your current role as compared to your previous roles as a steward and how have you adapted?

I have found the transition into HRV very easy due to the very experienced stewards panel. The major difference from GRV is the many different roles that need to be filled on track doesn’t apply at HRV, meaning the whole panel can focus on ensuring the highest level of integrity is maintained.

What does integrity mean to you?

To ensure a consistent and honest approach is always maintained in all aspects of life.
