Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards have issued charges against licensed trainer Brad Angove under Australian Harness Racing Rules (AHRR) 190(1) and 196C.

AHRR 190(1) states:

A horse shall be presented for a race free of prohibited substances

It is alleged that the horse ‘Ebonys Avenger’ was presented to race at Melton on 10 March 2021 by Mr Angove, whilst not free of alkalinising agents, a prohibited substance when evidenced by a total carbon dioxide (TCO2) concentration in excess of 36 millimoles per litre in plasma.

An additional charge under AHRR 196C relates to Mr Angove allegedly administering an alkalinising agent to ‘Ebonys Avenger’ within one clear day of commencement of a race.

The charge will be heard by the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
