With the recent conclusion of the Vicbred Super Series on New Year’s Eve at Tabcorp Park Melton, and the Breeders Crown series in November, we wanted to update the industry from an integrity perspective regarding some activities that have been undertaken in recent months.
During the period from 1 November until 31 December 2020:
- There were a total of 194 stable inspections conducted;
- 142 ‘Out of Competition’ samples conducted from over 40 licensed trainers;
- 55 race day samples taken at registered stables from horses engaged at race meetings later that evening;
- As a result of a stable inspection conducted, stewards are to issue charges in the future as a licensed person had allegedly administered treatment on race day;
- On 9 November 2020, a total of 23 horses competing at the Geelong trials were subjected to swab sampling;
- On 14 December 2020, a total of 38 horses competing at the Maryborough trials were subjected to swab sampling;
- At the Breeders Crown Finals on 21 November 2020, a total of 64 blood samples, 22 urine and 17 hair samples were obtained;
- At the Vicbred Super Series Finals on New Year’s Eve, a total of 53 blood samples and 24 urine samples were obtained.
- 14 Hair samples obtained for upcoming Yearling Samples.
