To minimise the risk of accidents, Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) Stewards remind all participants of their obligations in relation to the pre-race preliminary.

As outlined in the Australian Harness Racing Rules (AHRR), it is mandatory that all horses complete their pre-race preliminary, including warming up, in the correct way of the course. This process must be followed unless otherwise directed by the Stewards or upon receiving specific instructions from the Clerk of the Course.

HRV Stewards appreciate the full co-operation of all participants. Any person who fails to comply with these requirements or disregards directions may be in breach of the applicable rules and subject to penalty.

Relevant rules

161. (1)  Subject to the powers of the Stewards, drivers shall obey the instructions and requirements of the Clerk of the Course.

(2)  A driver who fails to comply with sub-rule (1) is guilty of an offence.
